Old friends and colleagues of composer Jerry Herman gathered to celebrate the publication of his autobiography, Showtune, co authored by Marilyn Stasio, on Nov. 21 in the Belasco Room at NY's Sardi's. Tyne Daly, Harvey Fierstein, Flo Lacey, Fred Ebb, and Marcia Lewis were among the celebrities who partied with the composer of scores such as Mame, Hello, Dolly! and La Cage Aux Folles.

The evening was highlighted by live entertainment by Herman, who accompanied himself singing "Before the Parade Passes By"(Dolly!), "Song of the Sand," (Folles) and "Today" (Mame) while pumping on the broken pedal of the Belasco Room upright.

Flo Lacey sang Ribbons Down My Back (Dolly!), and everyone joined in on the theme song from Mame. Herman read an excerpt from the book, describing Pearl Bailey's mystical vision during a performance of Dolly!.

Herman also talked about his upcoming TV musical, Mrs. Santa Claus, starring Angela Lansbury, who did not attend. Everyone who attended received a copy of the new Claus CD.
