If your name is Dave Gorman, there's a guy in New York who wants to meet you.

His name is also Dave Gorman, and he's put together a one-man show about other Dave Gormans called Are You Dave Gorman? It's been playing at the Westbeth Theatre Center since Sept. 26 and officially opened there Nov. 3. The show was supposed to end Nov. 3, but ticket sales warranted an extension through Nov. 24, and then again through Dec. 15. The solo has now extended one more week, through Dec. 22.

A production spokesperson at the Jacksina office told Playbill On-Line that plans for a further extension or a break and a return in the spring were as-yet undecided, though Gorman does have a commitment in London that will unquestionably keep him out of New York in January.

The comedy was born when Gorman and his London flatmate were — no surprise — drinking. They heard a rumor that the assistant manager of a Scotland football club was also named Dave Gorman and the next morning hopped a train and went to meet him. They've been looking for Dave Gormans all over the world ever since.

The show, about Gorman's experiences meeting other same-named people, was a hit at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and moved to London's West End. It's also been performed at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. The theatre is at 151 Bank St., NYC. Tickets are $25 to $40. For information and tickets, call the box office at (212) 741-0391 or Ticketmaster (212) 307-4100.
