News High School Musical Joins Muny's 90th Season Line-Up The Disney hit High School Musical will be presented during the 2008 summer season at the St. Louis Muny, the nation's oldest and largest outdoor theatre.

As previously announced, The Producers, which concerns producer Max Bialystock and his hapless accountant Leo Bloom, will kick off the Muny season June 16-22. The summer will also include My Fair Lady (July 7-13), Miss Saigon (July 21-27), My One and Only (July 28-Aug. 3) and Fiddler on the Roof (Aug. 4-10).

High School Musical, based on the Disney TV film of the same name, will play the St. Louis venue June 23-July 2. The musical centers on the unlikely friendship that evolves between the jock Troy and brainiac Gabriella at a karaoke contest. Little did the two know that she would be transferring to his school. The duo decide — against their friends' wishes and to the dismay of school stars (a drama queen and her twin brother) — to audition for the high school musical.

The 90th season at the outdoor venue will also boast the musical revue 90 Years of Muny Magic. The production, according to the official Muny website, will take audiences "on a musical journey from grand opera and operettas to rock musicals." Performance dates are July 14-20.

The theatre regularly attracts Broadway talent. Last season featured performances by Georgia Engel, Liz Callaway, Will Chase, Kate Baldwin, Lewis Stadlen, Telly Leung, Randy Graff and more.
