News Hirschfeld Drawing to Be Auctioned Off at New York's Swann Galleries Sept. 25 More than one hundred drawings by the late theatre caricaturist Al Hirschfeld will be sold at auction at Manhattan's Swann Galleries, Sept. 25.

Hirschfeld died on Jan. 20 at the age of 99. The artworks on display are all gathered from private collections in Cleveland and New York. By coincidence, they include images of a couple other entertainment icons who also recently died at a ripe old age: Bob Hope and Katharine Hepburn. Other items include etchings of Cabaret, with Liza Minelli and Joel Grey; Barbra Streisand in Funny Lady; and a crayon and charcoal drawing of Ethel Barrymore as a 101 year-old woman in White Oaks. The Al Hirschfeld sale may be previewed at Swann Galleries Sept. 20 from 10 AM to 4 PM, and Sept. 22-Sept. 24, from 10 AM to 6 PM. The auction, on Sept. 25, will begin at 10:30 AM. Illustrated catalogues, priced at $35, are available from Swann Galleries and online, at www.swanngalleries.com.

Swann Galleries is located in Manhattan, at 104 East 25th Street.
