Stefanie Zadravec's play won the 2009 Hayes Award known as the Charles MacArthur Award for Outstanding Play or Musical. It premiered at Theater J in Washington, DC. "With the lives of loved ones at stake, Honey Brown Eyes — set in two kitchens during the notorious 20th-century conflict in the former Yugoslavia — depicts not only the day-to-day toll war takes on families and communities, but the far-reaching effect of American pop culture on people half a world away."

Zadravec's other plays include Save Me, The Fear Project and 167 Tongues.

The creative team is set designer Laura Jellinek, lighting designer Jeff Croiter, sound designer Bart Fasbender and costume designer Emily Rebholz. The play kicks off the 26th season of the Working Theater, whose producing artistic director is Mark Plesent.
