The old theme of the Volksbuhne Theatre -- the failure of socialism --is once again reflected by Hans Kresnik in his new production Hotel Lux, which opened January 22. Political emigrants from all over Europe, fleeing from Fascism, stayed at the Hotel Lux in Moscow. Kresnik, who is the founder of "choreographic theatre," shows the prominent guests of the red hotel in the clutches of Stalin's security police. They either become victims or culprits.
Stage, set and costumes are designed by Penelope Wehrli, the music is composed by Christian von Borries.
