Contrary to the Alley Theatre's initial plans, A Christmas Carol will remain the 10 year old classic production, not a new one, when it opens Nov. 27. The old Christmas Carol will run from Nov. 23-Dec. 27.

The Alley had hoped to debut a new version of the Dickens novella this season but halted plans when the new production designs made it clear too little time remained to completely renovate the old Christmas Carol sets.

1998's version will instead be the 1989 version originally directed and adapted by Hartford Stage Company's Michael Wilson. Alley resident company actor James Black will portray the miserly Scrooge, backed by a cast of over 40 actors.

Tickets for A Christmas Carol, A Ghost Story of Christmas are available by calling the Alley Theatre box office at (713) 228-9341 and cost $46-$34. The Alley Theatre is located at 615 Texas Avenue.
