The Blue Room, David Hare's two-handed play which made a hit on Broadway with filmdom's Nicole Kidman, finishies its Texas run with Theatre LaB Houston Feb. 24. Performances began Jan. 13. Ed Muth directs.
The Blue Room is David Hare's modern take on Arthur Schnitzler's classic romantic text "Reigen," which later became La Ronde after the film version. First performed in 1912, the play caused a scandal with its bitter and comic assessment of love, depicted in a series of sexual liaisons. In the two-hander, Laura Hooper and Lynn Miller play five different characters, the roles originally played on Broadway by Kidman and co-star Iain Glen, both of whom appeared briefly naked on stage.
Hare's other plays include Via Dolorosa, The Secret Rapture, Amy's View, Skylight, Racing Demon and The Judas Kiss.
Tickets are $20. Theater LaB Houston is located at 1706 Alamo. For reservations, call (713) 868-7516.
