When the Keen Company announced its revival of Jonathan Larson’s Tick…Tick…Boom! earlier this summer, the demand for tickets was overwhelming. In light of this, the organization made the decision to move the production from the Clurman Theater at Theatre Row to the larger Acorn Theatre upstairs, which had only just become available.
The transfer not only meant that the Keen Company would double its audience capacity for Tick…Tick…Boom!, it also allowed for a reshuffling of shows scheduled at Theatre Row.
With Tick…Tick…Boom! now in the Acorn, the Mint Theater’s acclaimed staging of A Day By The Sea in the Beckett Theatre could extend another four weeks, through October 23, without affecting The Actors Company Theatre’s planned revival of She Stoops to Conquer, which will now play the Clurman rather than the Beckett. Mint and TACT usually share the Beckett Theatre—Keen’s transfer has allowed all three shows to now be staged at the same time.
Directed by Scott Alan Evans, Oliver Goldsmith’s She Stoops to Conquer will begin performances October 4 and officially open October 16. The classic 18th century British comedy will star Jeremy Beck (Widowers’ Houses), Cynthia Darlow (Beyond Therapy), Mairin Lee (The Heiress), James Prendergast (Happy Birthday), Tony Roach (Bright Star), John Rothman (Prelude to a Kiss), Justine Salata (Lovers) and Richard Thieriot (Clybourne Park). Performances are set to run through November 5.
The reshuffling of shows was made possible by Erika Feldman, who runs Theatre Row.
