The award-winning actor was filming a segment for "Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure" Dec. 14 when he hit some light rigging while making an entrance on a flying fox, which the industry paper describes as "a heavy-duty wire set with a harness and handle assembly that slides on wheels." Jackman, who joked that the incident was "worse than playing rugby," was bleeding beneath his right eye. Winfrey stopped taping of the talk show for approximately ten minutes while the actor received medical attention.

Sporting a black eye and a bandage over his wound, Jackman returned to the show and even took part in a musical number that concluded the taping.

Jackman, who was seen on screen in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," earned a Tony Award for his work in the Broadway musical The Boy From Oz. He is also known for his film roles in the "X-Men" trilogy, "Someone Like You," "Swordfish," "Kate and Leopold," "Van Helsing" and the recent "The Fountain" and "Happy Feet" (in voice). His stage credits also include Trevor Nunn's staging of Oklahoma! at Britian's National Theatre and award-winning work in productions of Sunset Boulevard and Beauty and the Beast in his homeland.
