The Tony winner and Oscar nominee shares how he's picking the tunes he plans to revisit on the stage.

Just after announcing his 2019 world tour, Hugh Jackman went on The Today Show to tell audiences what they can expect from his arena show.

"This is a dream come true for me," he said. "I've done it in Australia but now I'm going around the world. I'm singing I'm dancing I'm telling stories."

Jackman will appear with a 26-piece orchestra and a crew of singers and dancers," he said. "I'm on the back nine of my life now, and this is about the best parts of the front nine. I'm going to sing stuff from The Greatest Showman and Les Mis from stuff I've done on Broadway, Boy From Oz—or stuff that I auditioned for that I didn't get cast for."

And Broadway fans may see a familiar face or two. "I love going to a concert when I feel something happens that night that could only happen that night. I try to keep it loose I have special guests," Jackman said. "Keala Settle, who played the Bearded Lady in Greatest Showman—she's going to come and do a bunch of them."

Although he'll be playing some of the biggest stages in the world, he's going to make it feel intimate. "I think whether it's 300, 3,000 or 13,000 [people], it has to feel like a celebration. You have to connect."

As for picking his set list, "It's really self-indulgent; I do my favorite songs."

And audiences can get a taste on December 4: "Next Tuesday morning, I'm going to perform on the Plaza. I'm going to sing two songs that are going to be in the [arena] show—one from Greatest Showman one from Les Mis."
