News Hugh Jackman Will Play Opposite "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" Star in New Film Tony Award winner Hugh Jackman and Oscar nominee Rooney Mara will star in the new film "Collateral Beauty," directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon ("Me and Earl and the Dying Girl"), according to Deadline.com.

PalmStar Media and Likely Story have acquired the rights to the film, penned by Allan Loeb, which centers on a New York advertising executive who falls into depression following a personal tragedy. No release dates were announced.

Anonymous Content's Michael Sugar and Bard Dorros are producing with Loeb. PalmStar CEO Kevin Frakes will executive produce with Likely Story's Anthony Bregman and Steven Pearl.

Jackman is a Tony winner for his performance in The Boy From Oz, and Mara was Oscar-nominated for her performance in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."

"Me and Earl" is one of a half dozen films attached to Jackman's name that have been announced in recent months. Among the others: "Pan," "Collateral Beauty," "Eddie the Eagle," "Apostle Paul;" and two X-Men movies, "X-Men: Apocalypse," and an untitled Wolverine sequel.

His last Broadway appearance was in The River in 2014.
