News Human Race Theatre Company's Harold & Maude and Painting Churches Nab DayTony Awards The Human Race Theatre Company, the resident Equity theatre in Dayton, OH, took home a slew of 2006-07 DayTony Awards, celebrating excellence in area theatre.

The DayTonys were handed out Aug. 12. Over 50 productions, including professional, college and community theatres, were represented in the awards ceremony.

Both Human Race Theatre Company productions of Harold & Maude: An Intimate Musical and Painting Churches were awarded Outstanding Production medallions.

Harold and Maude, by Tom Jones and Joseph Thalken, garnered a Best Direction award for Kevin Moore, as well as Best Orchestrations for Joseph Thalken's new, reduced four-piece chamber-style arrangements for the production. Musical director Scot Woolley also took home a DayTony for his work on Harold & Maude.

Individual actors from Human Race productions received awards for their work, including Evan Thompson (Painting Churches), Mark Chmiel and Kevin Moore (Big River), Richard Marlatt and Tim Lile (Moonlight and Magnolias), Brian McKnight (Take Me Out) and Bruce Cromer (I Am My Own Wife). Ensemble Acting Awards were also give to the casts of Big River, Painting Churches and Harold & Maude.

Daytonys were also awarded to the Human Race Theatre Company productions of Painting Churches (David A. Centers) and Moonlight and Magnolias (Dan Gray).
