The musical, based upon the novel and screenplay by Herman Raucher, is directed by book writer Foster and choreographed by Lorin Latarro.

The cast features Bailey Buntain (ABC Family's "Bunheads") as Aggie, Joey Dippel as Benjie, Alyssa Gagarin as Miriam, F. Michael Haynie (Wicked) as Oscy, Betsy Hogg (Peter and the Starcatcher) as Gloria, Ben Mayne as Pete, Chris McCarrell as Hermie, Chelsea Packard (Hands on a Hardbody) as Dorothy and William Youmans (Hands on a Hardbody) as Mr. Sanders/Walter Winchel.

"Summer of '42 was a seminal piece of literature and filmmaking, and we are glad to be bringing this story to the stage with the help of top-class theatre artists," said producing director Bernstein in an earlier statement. "During the actual summer of 1942, America had just joined the Allied Forces in World War II. With this production we are proud to announce an initiative honoring veterans who have served in our country."

For each of the 22 performances of Summer of '42, the Bucks County Playhouse honors a military veteran. To nominate a veteran, theatregoers can fill out the nomination form found on the BCP website.

All selected veterans will receive two complimentary tickets to the performance in which they will be honored and will receive a military discount code for their friends and family to join. Nominees who have had active duty service during any time period are eligible. Summer of '42, according to BCP, "is a coming of age story about three teenage boys living on a tiny island off the coast of Maine during the time when America was in the middle of a full-scale war and men were lining up to join the army. It becomes a summer they will never forget."

The creative team also includes Paul Masse (music director), Wilson Chin and David Arsenault (scenic design), Nicole V. Moody (costume design), Travis McHale (lighting design) and Ed Chapman (sound design).

Bucks County Playhouse is located at 770 South Main Street in New Hope, PA. For more information and tickets, call (215) 862-2121 or visit BCPTheater.org.

Located 90 minutes from New York City, the Bucks County Playhouse opened in 1939 on the site of a grist mill dating from the late 18th century. The structure was at that time in danger of demolition, but playwright Moss Hart and the local community rallied to save the building and re-opened it as a theatrical venue, which quickly became one of the country's most famous regional theatres. It remained in continuous operation (under a number of operators) until December 2010. Bridge Street Foundation, the non-profit family foundation of Kevin and Sherri Daugherty with Tanya Cooper as president, reopened the venue on July 2, 2012, exactly 73 years from when it originally opened in 1939. The Rodgers & Hammerstein revue A Grand Night for Singing launched the 2012 season.
