News I Dig Doug Begins Fringe Run Aug. 12; Bert V. Royal Directs I Dig Doug, directed by Fringe success story Bert V. Royal, begins its Fringe run Aug. 12.

Written and performed by Karen DiConcetto (Dog Sees God, formerly of British pop sensation Daphne and Celeste) and Rochelle Zimmerman (NAATCO's House of Bernarda Alba), I Dig Doug will play the SoHo Playhouse through Aug. 24. Press notes state, "A teenager's world is turned upside down when she discovers the presidential election is the ultimate reality television. It's a journey that leads her from New York to Iowa, from MTV to C-Span, and from hot, young pop-stars to pot-bellied politicians."

Bert V. Royal, who saw his 2004 Fringe success Dog Sees God transfer Off-Broadway, serves as director for the politically themed satire. Royal is a GLAAD Media Award winner for Dog Sees God, which he is currently adapting for a screen adaptation.
