News I Know What Boys Want, Sex Scandal Drama by Penny Jackson, Begins NYC Run March 28 Ego Actus presents I Know What Boys Want, a new drama by playwright Penny Jackson about a high school sex scandal, officially opening March 28 for a run through April 13 at the WorkShop Theater.

Directed by Joan Kane, the cast features Sara Hogrefe, Dara O'Brien, Janice Amano, Kimberly Diamond, Lauren D. Salvo, Liam Rhodes, Teddy Lytle and Nick Vennekotter.

Here's how the work is billed: "Vicky Walker, a sexy senior in a New York City prep school, finds herself the victim of a sex tape that has gone viral. The tape creates an immediate sensation among students and faculty and Vicky is disgraced and gets suspended from school. Her uncomprehending mother, a former feminist who doesn't understand the new, 'show me everything' attitude of Vicky's generation, demands that Vicky destroys the phone with the sex footage before it does even more damage. Can Vicky make herself vanish from the Internet? Or will she remain an eternal victim caught in its web?"

Jackson's most recent play, Safe, won best new dramatic writing at The Planet Connections Theater Festivity last summer and will be produced this August at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Safe was recently published by Indie Theater Now and will also be performed at 59E59 in July. Her play The Belle of Staten Island was featured in Double X, an all-female playwrights festival in Seattle. Her new play All Alices, currently in development, was part of the Lark Play Development Roundtable series.

Bruce A! Kraemer produces and provides lighting design.

Performances are Thursday-Saturday at 8 PM with Saturday matinees at 3 PM. A talkback with Martin Denton (founder, editor and chief reviewer of NYTheatre.com) is scheduled for March 30 following the 3 PM matinee, and a talkback with neuroscientist Heather Berlin will take place following the April 11 show. The WorkShop Theater is located at 312 W. 36th Street, 4th floor. For more information and tickets, call (800) 838-3006 or visit BrownPaperTickets.com.
