The National Theatre has just announced details of its long-awaited production of A Streetcar Named Desire.
Glenn Close will appear — in her West End debut — as Blanche Du Bois, with Iain Glen (who had the pleasure of appearing on a London stage with another leading Hollywood star, Nicole Kidman, in The Blue Room at the Donmar) as Stanley Kowalski, Blanche's brutish brother-in-law.
The play will run from Sept. 28 (opening on Oct. 8) until Nov. 23.
Both Glenn and Glen are known for stage and screen performances, with Close being one of the most striking Norma Desmonds in Sunset Boulevard.
