Fans erupted last spring when lead producer David Stone announced that Menzel (the muse for whom If/Then was written) had signed on to repeat her performance in seven select tour stops. Menzel is joined in those select cities by Broadway castmates LaChanze (The Color Purple, Once on This Island) as Kate, Rapp (Rent; Six Degrees of Separation; You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown) as Lucas and Snyder (Cry-Baby, Rock of Ages) as Josh.

"If/Then is partly about how the communities we live and work in become our families," producer Stone said in a statement. "The original Broadway cast was like a family, and I am very excited for the family to be reunited on tour and to give audiences outside of New York the opportunity to see these exceptional Broadway stars in the roles they created."

The four Broadway principals appear together in the following tour stops: The Buell Theatre in Denver (Oct. 13-25), the Paramount Theatre in Seattle (Nov. 3-8), the SHN Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco (Nov. 10–Dec. 6), the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles (Dec. 8–Jan. 3, 2016), the San Diego Civic Theatre in San Diego (Jan. 5-10), ASU Gammage in Tempe (Jan. 12-17) and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa (Jan. 19-24).

Following these seven cities, If/Then will continue to tour with a different principal cast to be announced. Additional stops include Dallas, Chicago, Minneapolis, Toronto, Philadelphia, Boston, Atlanta and other cities.

If/Then is the original musical that reunites composer Tom Kitt, book writer/lyricist Brian Yorkey and director Michael Greif, the creative team behind the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical Next to Normal.

The cast also features Janine DiVita (Anything Goes, Mystery of Edwin Drood) as Anne, Daren A. Herbert (Parade, Floyd Collins) as Stephen and original Broadway If/Then ensemble member Marc de la Cruz as David.

The ensemble includes English Bernhardt, Charissa Bertels, Xavier Cano, Trey Ellett, Kyra Faith, Corey Greenan, Cliffton Hall, Deedee Magno Hall, Tyler McGee, Joseph Morales, Emily Rogers and Alicia Taylor Tomasko.

In an exclusive interview with Playbill.com in December 2014, Menzel said that the show was her "salvation."

"Yes, it explores a lot of intense themes that are close to my heart," she said about If/Then, a musical that follows a woman restarting and reshaping her life, "but to have the opportunity to be on the stage with the cast that I have and work through those things every day, it's been a total gift."

According to producers, "If/Then is a contemporary new musical that follows two distinct storylines in the life of Elizabeth, a city planner who moves back to New York to restart her life in this city of infinite possibilities. When her carefully designed plans collide with the whims of fate, Elizabeth's life splits into two parallel paths. If/Then follows both stories simultaneously as this modern woman faces the intersection of choice and chance."

If/Then features choreography by Larry Keigwin, set design by Tony Award nominee Mark Wendland, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Tony Award winner Kenneth Posner and sound design by Tony Award winner Brian Ronan.

The original Broadway cast recording is produced by Sony Masterworks and is available on iTunes.

If/Then gave its final Broadway performance March 22, 2015, having played 29 previews and 401 performances.
