News   Idina, Orfeh and Anastasia Cast for Romantic Poetry: The Musicale Benefit
Idina Menzel, Orfeh, Anastasia Barzee and Mark Linn-Baker are lined up for the one night-only benefit of Henry Krieger and John Patrick Shanley's Romantic Poetry: The Musicale, for the LAByrinth Theater Company.

The event — in anticipation of the work's premiere at New York Stage & Film this summer — will play May 21 at 7 PM at Off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Theatre. All proceeds benefit the LAByrinth Theater Company.

The cast (subject to availability) will include Carlo Alban, Anastasia Barzee, Kim Director, Bill Evans, Ivan Hernandez, Andy Karl, Mark Linn-Baker, Chris McGarry, Idina Menzel, Patina Miller and Orfeh.

Featuring music by Henry Krieger with a book and lyrics by John Patrick Shanley, Romantic Poetry is billed as "a soaring love song to impossible romance." According to the creators, "You will laugh, you will cry, you will shake your head. You will embrace your fellow audience members, and gasp: 'Thank God we were here!' You will make friends for life. The show will improve marriages, turn casual dates into torrid assignations, and reduce cynics to autograph hounds! Be there or face years of loneliness!"

Composer Krieger penned the Tony-nominated scores for Dreamgirls and Side Show as well as the scores for The Tap Dance Kid and the forthcoming The Flamingo Kid, among others.

Pulitzer Prize winner Shanley — who earned that honor for Doubt — has written the plays Defiance, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, Savage in Limbo, Four Dogs and a Bone, Where's My Money, Dirty Story and Sailor's Song as well as the screenplays for "Moonstruck" and "Joe Versus the Volcano." The 15th anniversary season of the LAByrinth continues with the developmental production of Andrea Ciannavei's Pretty Chin Up (through June 2) and Eric Bogosian's This Is Now! penned with musician-composer Elliott Sharp.

Priority tickets (priced at $500 with $450 tax-deductible) include admission to an after party and priority seating. Tickets ($150/ $125 tax-deductible) are also available by calling (212) 513-1014 or by e-mailing
