News Idle Chat: Spamalot Creator Appears on CBS' "Late Late Show" Sept. 14 Monty Python's Spamalot creator Eric Idle will appear on CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" late Sept. 14.

The talk show airs in the metropolitan area at 12:35 AM (ET); check local listings.

Idle, along with John Du Prez ("A Fish Called Wanda"), co-composed the Spamalot score. Idle also provided the libretto to the musical, which was "lovingly ripped-off" from the screenplay of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." The screenplay was co-written with Monty Python creators Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones and Michael Palin.

Idle and Du Prez reteamed for the oratorio Not the Messiah (He's a Very Naughty Boy), which is based on the film "Monty Pynthon's Life of Brian"; they are reportedly at work on a new ballet.

Spamalot earned the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical and took home honors for direction (Mike Nichols) and one of its stars (Sara Ramirez). The musical still plays on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre and currently enjoys runs in London, Las Vegas and a national tour. An Australian production is slated to play Melbourne in November.
