Classic Arts News Il Divo Debuts at Top of Billboard Crossover Chart The much-hyped crossover vocal quartet Il Divo made its first appearance on the Billboard classical crossover chart this week at number one, displacing Josh Groban's Closer, which has held the top spot for a total of 68 weeks.
Il Divo's four classically trained singers, assembled by pop impresario Simon, sing a mix of American and European pop on their self-titled debut.

On the classical chart, Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble's Silk Road Journeys: Beyond the Horizon remained at number one for the third straight week. The San Francisco Symphony's recording of Mahler's Ninth Symphony, the latest in the orchestra's self-produced Mahler series, was the biggest mover of the week, jumping from number 18 to number three in its second week.

The 5 Browns' eponymous debut remained at number two.

Other fast sellers includes Ren_e Fleming's Handel, which re-entered the chart at number 24.
