News Imelda Staunton Is Rose in Gypsy, Opening at U.K.'s Chichester Festival Theatre Oct. 14 A new production of the classic 1959 Jule Styne, Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurents musical Gypsy officially opens at Chichester Festival Theatre Oct. 14, following previews that began Oct. 6, starring Imelda Staunton as Rose, Lara Pulver as Louise and Kevin Whateley as Herbie. It runs through Nov. 8.

Also in featured roles are Gemma Sutton as June, Dan Burton as Tulsa, Anita Louise Combe as Tessie, Louise Gold as Mazeppa and Julie Legrand as Electra/Miss Cratchitt.

The company also includes Jimmy Chisholm (Uncle Jocko), Jack Chissick (Mr Goldstone), Harry Dickman (Pop), Roger Dipper (L.A./Farmboy), Clare Halse (Majorie May/Toreadorable), Tom Hodgins (Weber/Boucheron), Kieran Jae (Angie/Farmboy), Danielle Morris (Geraldine/Toleadorable), Jane McMurtie (Jaynie), Jack North (Little Rock/Farmboy), Damian Poole (Yonkers/Farmboy), Natalie Woods (Agnes/Toreadorable) and Lauren Varnham (Waitress/Delores/Toreodorable).

The production is directed by Jonathan Kent, with choreography by Stephen Mear. It is designed by Anthony Ward, with musical direction by Nicholas Skilbeck, lighting by Mark Henderson, sound by Paul Groothuis and casting by Pippa Ailion.
