The annual New York City-based summer camp, which brings young theatre hopefuls together with Broadway professionals, incorporates a Broadway production into its curriculum. As part of their training, Camp Broadway participants have the opportunity to attend a Broadway production and meet the cast and crew to gain insight into the professional theatre community. Camp Broadway will feature two summer sessions, one running July 14–18 and another, Aug. 4-8. Typical Camp Broadway programming includes vocal coaching, dance classes, master classes with Broadway professionals, and ongoing preparation for the collaborative Camp Broadway final showcase. Several tailor-made workshops have been created to meet the needs of young performers.
The programs include Camp Broadway Shining Stars (ages 6-8); Camp Broadway (ages 9-11); CB2 (ages 12-14); and Camp Broadway The Next Step (ages 15-17), which requires participants to have enrolled in a previous Camp Broadway workshop, or submit audition materials and a letter of recommendation from a performing arts instructor to Camp Broadway. An additional program for performers ages 18 and over, is forthcoming.
