The solo work, seen previously at the Culture Project, began previews Nov. 12, 2007, and reopened Nov. 19 for a run through March 2. The production will now be dark on Mondays and add a Saturday matinee as well as a 5:30 PM Sunday performance. For a full schedule, visit daitheplay.com. Written and performed by Bahr, the solo show, according to press notes, is described as such: "Dai transports us into the fast-paced world of a bustling Tel Aviv café, just moments before a suicide bomber enters. . . . Members of all strata of Israeli society, as well as its observers and critics, are captured in what are to be their final moments."
Creator Bahr was a sergeant in the Israeli army, a neuroscience researcher and a standup comedian and actress. She had a recurring role on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and was also seen in "Larry The Cable Guy." She is also the author of "Dork Whore: My Travels Through Asia as a Twenty Year Old Pseudo-Virgin."
Bernie Kukoff, Jonathan Pollard and Jon Cutler produce the new run at the 47th Street Theatre, which also houses Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening.
Will Pomerantz directed the work, which played a sold-out run at the Impact Festival. The production then began a new run Nov. 8, 2006, at the Culture Project's former home (at 45 Bleecker) and reopened at the company's new stage (Jan. 4, 2007) for a two-month stint.
The work also played a special command performance (May 31, 2007) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City and (Aug. 1-27, 2007) as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
