Rattlestick Playwright’s Theater and Women’s Project present the New York premiere of Ironbound by Martyna Majok, which officially opens March 16 following previews that began March 3. Leading the cast of the Off-Broadway production is Tony nominee Marin Ireland (Reasons to be Pretty), with direction by Daniella Topol.

Ireland co-stars alongside Josiah Bania, Shiloh Fernandez and Drama Desk nominee Morgan Spector.

One of the top ten plays on the 2014 Kilroys List, Ironbound was produced by Round House Theatre in DC as part of The Women’s Voices Theater Festival, where it received critical acclaim. It presents the portrait of a woman fighting to survive in America.

“At a bus stop in a run-down New Jersey town, Darja, a young Polish immigrant, is done talking about feelings; it’s time to talk money,” state production notes. “Over the course of 20 years, three relationships, and three presidents, Darja negotiates for her future with men who can offer her love or security, but never both.”

The creative team is made up of set and lighting designer Justin Townsend, costume designer Kaye Voyce and sound designer Jane Shaw.
