The Public Theater's outdoor staging of Into the Woods will incorporate elements from the 2010 Regent's Park Open Air Theatre London production. It will be staged by original director Timothy Sheader July 23-Aug. 25 at the Delacorte Theater. The musical has a Tony-winning score by Stephen Sondheim and a Tony-winning book by James Lapine.

The Post reports that the Public is currently raising funds for a Broadway transfer of the 1987 musical, which was last revived on Broadway in 2002. The Public did not respond to Playbill.com's request for comment.

In recent seasons the Public transferred its Tony-winning revival of Hair and The Merchant of Venice, starring Al Pacino and Lily Rabe, to Broadway following acclaimed Shakespeare in the Park runs.

Into the Woods will also feature Jack Broderick (Narrator), Gideon Glick (Jack), Cooper Grodin (Rapunzel's Prince), Ivan Hernandez (Cinderella's Prince/Wolf), Tina Johnson (Granny), Josh Lamon (Steward), Jessie Mueller (Cinderella), Laura Shoop (Cinderella's Mother) and Tess Soltau (Rapunzel).

It will have scenic design by John Lee Beatty and Soutra Gilmour; costume design by Emily Rebholz; movement direction by Liam Steel; sound design by Acme Sound Partners; orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick; and musical direction by Paul Gemignani.
