Isadora Duncan challenged and changed dance at the turn of the century. Her legacy is explored in the two person show, David A. McElroy's Isadora, receiving its world premiere at Tampa's Gorilla Theatre Nov. 30-Dec. 17. An American who spent most of her life as an expatriot, Duncan developed a philosophy of natural movement and breathing, thought ballet deformed a woman's body and stressed the high art nature of dance. She died in a car accident in Paris in 1927. McElroy adapted her biography, focusing on the romances, philosophy and feminism of the famous artist and teacher. His other credits include Ladies Night Out and An Evening of Lost Songs.

Marylin McGinnis portrays Duncan. She is joined by musician and actor Sean Sanzcel, who not only plays on piano some of the Liszt, Beethoven and Chopin pieces Duncan liked to dance to, but also plays the woman's various lovers.

Pam Killinger choroegraphs. Killinger has worked as a dancer, choreographer and director for Walt Disney World and is currently a choreography specialist there.

Tickets are $17. The Gorilla Theatre is located at 4419 North Hubert Avenue. For reservations, call (813) 879-2914.
