Toronto Theatre Alliance reports that Toronto's Mixed Company has been invited to perform in the International Istanbul Children's Theatre Festival, in June. They are taking The Family , directed by the company's artistic director Simon Malbogat and featuring actors Ed Fielding, Claudia Waker, Luciano Iogna, Heather Maujory and Celal Uchar. It is the Turkish-Canadian Uchar who has spear-headed the exchange. The show combines the teachings of the Deer Tribe of the Cherokee Nation and the interactive theatre techniques of teacher/director Augusto Boal, whose Ripple Effect Festival has become a yearly event in Toronto.
