Impresario Duncan Weldon's office has confirmed that the award-winning production of Private Lives that has been playing to packed houses at the Albery will be transferring to New York.
Star Alan Rickman, speaking to Playbill On-Line, also confirmed that the comedy would arrive on Broadway in mid-April. As expected, the Richard Rodgers will be its home.
The dates and venue are expected to be confirmed next week. Given the perennial appeal of Noel Coward, that Private Lives is his best known play, and the movie star appeal of Alan Rickman and Lindsay Duncan, the play is likely to do as well on Broadway as in the West End.
