Broadway veteran Jake Gyllenhaal hosts Saturday Night Live April 9 alongside musical guest Camila Cabello. This marks his third time hosting the sketch show, which airs on NBC at 11:30 PM ET (check local listings). The performer is promoting the recent theatrical release of his new movie Ambulance.

Gyllenhaal was last seen on the Broadway stage in 2019 in Simon Stephens and Nick Payne's play Sea Wall/A Life. The production consists of two one-act solo performances and starred the Donnie Darko actor alongside Tom Sturridge. The show was recorded and released as an audiobook via Audible the following year.

He also played George in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Sunday in the Park with George, first portraying the character at a New York City Center concert before bringing the role to Broadway and London's West End. He can be heard on the 2017 Broadway Cast Recording.

Directed by Transformers' Michael Bay, Ambulance stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Eiza González in lead roles. It follows two adoptive siblings (Gyllenhaal and Abdul-Mateen II) who decide to rob a bank to cover a family member's hospital bills. As the situation grows hostile, they steal an ambulance and take an EMT (González) and an injured police officer (Garret Dillahunt) as hostages. The action flick is a remake of a 2005 Danish film and will be released by Universal Pictures.
