News James Badge Dale to Co-Star With Cate Blanchett in David Mamet's "Blackbird" James Badge Dale has joined the cast of "Blackbird," according to Deadline.com.

David Mamet's thriller will star Oscar winner Cate Blanchett and feature Dale as a military major investigating a woman's grandmother who worked for the U.S. special ops during the 1960s. Dale is currently performing in Small Engine Repair Off-Broadway. His film credits include "Iron Man 3," "The Pacific" and "The Departed."

Blanchett won the Oscar for her role in "The Aviator" and has been nominated for three additional Academy Awards. Her film work includes "Blue Jasmine," "Elizabeth," "The Lord of the Rings," "Babel," "Notes on a Scandal" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." Most recently seen in New York in Uncle Vanya, Blanchett's stage work includes Oleanna, A Streetcar Named Desire, Hedda Gabler and The Seagull. Blanchett and her husband Andrew Upton served as artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company from 2008-13. Upton currently is the sole artistic director.

Mamet, a Pulitzer Prize winner for Glengarry Glen Ross, is also the author of The Anarchist, A Life in the Theatre, Race, Oleanna, American Buffalo, Speed-the-Plow, November, The Old Neighborhood and The Water Engine/Mr. Happiness.
