News Jamie Bernstein Will Narrate Free Leonard Bernstein Tribute in Times Square Oct. 21 On Oct. 21 a tribute to the late Leonard Bernstein that features historic footage and a performance by the China Philharmonic Orchestra will be broadcast throughout Times Square.

Jamie Bernstein, the late composer's daughter, will narrate the 45-minute event, which will be broadcast on the Panasonic Astrovision, the seven-stories-tall NASDAQ and Reuters high-definition screens. Broadcast time is 7 PM. The broadcast, according to press notes, is "an in-depth look at the life and career of Bernstein, a man who indelibly influenced American music. Accompanying the stunning visual footage, the China Philharmonic Orchestra will play Bernstein's unforgettable compositions, including Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, Three Dance Episodes from On The Town, Candide Overture and Serenade."

Jamie Bernstein, Beijing Music Festival founder Long Yu and Chinese pianist Lang Lang will be in attendance in Times Square for the broadcast.

This celebration of the late composer is a part of the 11th Annual Beijing Music Festival.
