News Jason Donovan Takes Over as Captain Von Trapp in Current U.K. Tour of The Sound of Music Jason Donovan is to take over as Captain von Trapp in the current U.K. tour of The Sound of Music, beginning performances in the role when it visits Hull's New Theatre from Jan. 29 to Feb. 12.

He will also play the role at its subsequent engagements at Stoke's Regent Theatre, Derry's Millennium Forum, Dublin's Canal Theatre, Glasgow's King's Theatre and Leeds' Grand Theatre. Donovan was last seen in the West End as Tick in Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Other leading roles in the West End include the title role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Caractacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, both at the London Palladium. On tour, he has played Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Show, the title role in John Doyle's production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd and he can currently be seen as The Artilleryman in The War of the Worlds. His television credits include "Neighbours" and "Echo Beach." He was also a finalist in ITV's "I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here."
