The Toronto engagement had been canceled in August 2012. At that time a spokesperson for the musical told Playbill.com, "The New York producers have decided not to open the show in Toronto this fall because of scheduling issues. Future plans for the production will be announced soon."

The New York Times now reports that producers of Honeymoon in Vegas are currently negotiating a run at a nonprofit theatre during the 2013-14 season.

Composer Brown, who said a lack of funds had hindered the Toronto/Broadway plans, told the Times, "If you can't get the money you need, you won't get a theater, and you will probably need to do more creative development…If you do get the money you need, voilà, no creative development necessary."

Based on the Castle Rock Entertainment Motion Picture of the same title, Honeymoon in Vegas features music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Brown (Parade, 13) and a book by Andrew Bergman (director and screenwriter of the film). Gary Griffin (The Color Purple) is scheduled to direct with choreography by Denis Jones.

Honeymoon in Vegas, according to press notes, tells the story of "Jack Singer, a regular guy with an extreme fear of marriage. When his girlfriend Betsy puts the pressure on, Jack finally pops the question and they head to Sin City for a whirlwind wedding weekend. But when Vegas wise guy Tommy Korman catches a glimpse of the stunning bride-to-be, and notices her uncanny resemblance to his late wife, he does everything possible to break up the romance and get his own second chance at love." Producers are Dena Hammerstein, Roy Gabay, Dan Farah and Katie Face Productions.

Released in 1992, the movie "Honeymoon in Vegas" starred James Caan, Nicolas Cage and Sarah Jessica Parker, and was written and directed by Andrew Bergman.
