Classic Arts News Jazz at Lincoln Center to Host Free Jazz Battle December 17 Jazz at Lincoln Center will present a "jazz battle" at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola on December 17, JALC announced.
The event, JALC's second free battle of the season, begins with a musical confrontation between guitarists Don Vappie and James Chirillo at 1 p.m. At 2 p.m., tenor saxophonists Marcus Strickland and Stacy Dillard face off. Trombonists Wycliffe Gordon and Conrad Herwig duel at 3 p.m.

All three battles will be accompanied by the rhythm section of pianist Dan Nimmer, bassist Carlos Henrique, and drummer Ali Jackson.

The event is free on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open 15 minutes before the beginning of each set, but audience members are encouraged to line up early.
