Classic Arts News Jazz Keyboardist Pete Jolly Dies Jazz keyboardist Pete Jolly died Saturday, November 6, the Associated Press reports. He was 72.
Jolly, a regular on the Southern California jazz circuit for 40 years, played piano, organ, and accordion, and had worked with such jazz greats as Buddy DeFranco, Art Pepper, and Red Norvo. His 1963 composition "Little Bird" was nominated for a Grammy Award, and shortly afterward he formed the Pete Jolly Trio with drummer Nick Martinis and bassist Chuck Berghofer.

Jolly also played the theme songs for such popular television shows as The Love Boat, Get Smart, and M*A*S*H, and can be heard on hundreds of movie soundtracks, including The Man With the Golden Arm and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
