One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is forty years old in 2002, while the Alley Theatre of Houston's most recent revival of the Dale Wasserman adaptation of Ken Kesey's novel is turning 10. Annalee Jeffries (Tantalus) and James Black (Not About Nightingales) played Nurse Ratched and McMurphy back in 1992 and, Feb. 22-March 23, they will reprise those roles in the Alley's revival on the Large Stage.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest takes on mental institutions, government institutions and authority figures of all types as patient McMurphy struggles against an opressive system. The 1975 Milos Forman film won five Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for Jack Nicholson. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was produced on Broadway in 1962 with Kirk Douglas and in 2001 with Gary Sinise.
