The Nederlander Presentations, Inc.'s tour of Frank Wildhorn's Jekyll & Hyde, which will launch Oct. 2 at San Diego's Civic Theatre, will arrive on Broadway in 2013.

According to Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis, who will star in the dual title role of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde, the production will open at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre in April 2013. The singing actor announced the news via Twitter.

The Rodgers is currently home to the limited engagement of the Tony-winning revival of The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess.

Joining Maroulis on stage will be Grammy-nominated R&B superstar Deborah Cox as Lucy, Teal Wicks as Emma Carew, Laird Mackintosh as John Utterson and Richard White as Sir Danvers Carew. 

Rounding out the cast are David Benoit, Stephen Mitchell Brown, Jerry Christakos, Dana Costello, Wendy Fox, Brian Gallagher, Sean Jenness, Mel Johnson Jr., James Judy, Ashley Loren, Courtney Markowitz, Aaron Ramey, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Rob Richardson, Blair Ross, Doug Storm, Haley Swindal and Jason Wooten.

The 25-week national tour, which will arrive on Broadway in April 2013, will play La Mirada, CA (Sept. 7-30 at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts; preview engagement), San Diego, CA (Oct. 2-7 at the Civic Theatre), Houston, TX (Oct. 9-21 at Theater Under the Stars), Tampa, FL (Oct. 23-28 at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts), Buffalo, NY (Oct. 30-Nov. 4 at Shea's Performing Arts Center), Charlotte, NC (Nov. 6-11 at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center's Belk Theater), Washington, DC (Nov. 20-25 at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts), Dallas, TX (Dec. 4-16 at the AT&T Performing Arts Center), Philadelphia, PA (Dec. 26-30 at Forrest Theatre), Durham, NC (Jan. 8-13, 2013, at the Durham Performing Arts Center), Oklahoma City, OK (Jan. 15-20 at the Civic Center Music Hall), Tulsa, OK (Jan. 22-27 at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center) and Los Angeles, CA (Feb. 12-March 3 at the Pantages Theater).

Conceived for the stage by Tony and Grammy nominee Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden, the four-time Tony-nominated musical Jekyll & Hyde features a book and lyrics by two-time Oscar winner, Emmy winner and four-time Tony Award nominee Leslie Bricusse and music by Wildhorn.

Jekyll & Hyde is based on the novella "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" by Robert Louis Stevenson, about "a London doctor who accidentally unleashes his evil alternate personality in his quest to cure his father’s mental illness," according to press notes.

Following a 30-city tour, the original Broadway production opened at The Plymouth Theatre April 28, 1997, and earned four Tony Award nominations. Directed by Robin Phillips and choreographed by Joey Pizzi, the production starred Robert Cuccioli, Linda Eder and Christiane Noll. After 1,543 performances and featuring such replacements as Sebastian Bach and David Hasselhoff in the title role, the production played its final performance  Jan. 7, 2001.

"American Idol" finalist Maroulis earned a 2009 Best Actor Tony Award nomination for portraying Drew, an aspiring musician with pipes of steel in the Tony-nominated musical Rock of Ages. He originated the role in the Off-Broadway production at New World Stages in 2008. He has also appeared on Broadway in The Wedding Singer, Off-Broadway in Jacques Brel… and the national tour of Rent.
