Broadway News Jenn Colella Departs Broadway's Come From Away August 7

Rachel Tucker returns to the roles of Beverley, Annette, and others August 9.

Come From Away bids farewell to original cast member Jenn Colella August 7 as the Tony-nominated performer plays her final performance in the musical's Broadway engagement as Beverley, Annette, and others. Colella, who created the roles, returned to the production June 21, succeeding Becky Gulsvig.

West End and Broadway favorite Rachel Tucker will return to those parts August 9—ahead of the show's October 2 closing—after reopening the show post-pandemic.

Colella's Broadway credits include Urban Cowboy, High Fidelity, Chaplin, and If/Then. Most recently, she starred as Carrie Chapman Catt in Shaina Taub's Suffs, which finished its world premiere engagement Off-Broadway at The Public Theater May 29.

Come From Away's Broadway company currently features Sharone Sayegh, Petrina Bromley, De’Lon Grant, Becky Gulsvig, Caesar Samayoa, James Seol, Q. Smith, Astrid Van Wieren, Emily Walton, Jim Walton, Gene Weygandt, Sharon Wheatley, Paul Whitty, Josh Breckenridge, John Jellison, Tony LePage, Monette McKay, Happy McPartlin, and Julie Reiber.

Come From Away resumed performances at the Schoenfeld September 21, 2021, and tells the true story of 7,000 stranded air passengers during the wake of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. The ensemble cast take on a variety of roles, from travelers to locals to airline personnel.

The show features music, lyrics, and a book by Irene Sankoff and David Hein with direction by Tony winner Christopher Ashley, choreography by Olivier winner Kelly Devine, music supervision and arrangements by Ian Eisendrath, scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Toni-Leslie James, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Gareth Owen, orchestrations by August Eriksmoen, and casting by Rachel Hoffman of The Telsey Office.

After opening March 12, 2017, the musical was nominated for seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The West End production reopened in London in July.
