As previously reported, Philip Martin will direct the film, which casts Travolta as a former art prodigy and petty thief, who buys his way out of prison to spend time with his ailing son. To do so, he teams up with his father (Plummer) for one last job.
Anson Mount, Abigail Spencer and Marcus Thomas have also joined the cast of "The Forger," which began filming Oct. 7 in Boston.
Plummer won a Golden Globe Award and Academy Award for his performance in "Beginners." In 1974 he took home his first Tony Award for his performance in Cyrano. He was also awarded the Tony for his performance in Barrymore and has been nominated for J.B., Othello, No Man's Land, King Lear and Inherit the Wind.
Al Corley, Eugene Musso, Bart Rosenblatt, Lisa Wilson, Myles Nestel and Rob Carliner are producing the film, with Anson Downes and Linda Favila as co-executive producers.
