Tony Award-winner Jennifer Holliday, once of Dreamgirls, joins the dream team of Broadway's Chicago June 18, playing Matron Mama Morton. Holliday, remembered as Effie, the ousted girl-group singer of the Broadway smash, Dreamgirls, will sing the role of Mama Morton for 10 weeks, according to production spokespersons at the Pete Sanders Group. Marcia Lewis, who created the role in the revival at the Shubert Theatre, is taking a vacation honeymoon, following her June marriage to Nashville businessman Fred Bryant.

Holliday, who appeared as the choir director of Ally's church in TV's "Ally McBeal," and has recorded solo albums, joins Vicki Lewis, Nana Visitor, Chuck Cooper, P.J. Benjamin and R. Bean in the cynical musical comedy by John Kander, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse.Walter Bobbie directs, Ann Reinking choreographs "in the style of Bob Fosse."
