News Jennifer Holliday to Offer Free Brooklyn Concert in June Tony Award-winning Dreamgirls star Jennifer Holliday will launch the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Rhythm & Blues Festival at MetroTech in June.

The free, ten-concert series will run Thursdays June 3-Aug. 5 at MetroTech in downtown Brooklyn. Concerts take place from 12-2 PM on the lawn of MetroTech commons. Danny Kapilian produces. Holliday, who earned a Tony for creating the role of Effie White in the original Broadway production of the Motown musical Dreamgirls, will be backed by the Uptown Horns for the June 3 concert.

Also on the bill: Bernie Worrell's SociaLybrium (June 10); Tony Allen (June 17); Victor Wooten (June 24); Tabou Combo (July 1); Mighty Sparrow (July 8); Naomi Shelton and the Gospel Queens (July 15); Bilal (July 22); Vieux Farka Toure (July 29); and Mykal Rose of Black Uhuru (Aug. 5).
