News Jeremy Jordan Plays Final Performance in Broadway's Newsies Sept. 4 Jeremy Jordan, who received a Tony nomination for creating the role of Jack Kelly in Broadway's Newsies, plays his final performance in that award-winning musical Sept. 4 at the Nederlander Theatre.

Jordan will be succeeded by Corey Cott, who will become the show’s new leading man beginning Sept. 5.

Jordan is departing the production to work full time on his leading role on the second season of NBC's "Smash." His other Broadway credits include Bonnie & Clyde, Rock of Ages and West Side Story.

Cott made his Broadway debut in Newsies just weeks after graduating from Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama. He appeared in several productions at Pittsburgh CLO including Miss Saigon, The Sound of Music and Jesus Christ Superstar and recently in the New York reading of Bare directed by Stafford Arima.

Newsies was nominated for eight Tony Awards, including Best Book (Harvey Fierstein), Best Score (Jack Feldman and Alan Menken), Best Actor (Jeremy Jordan), Best Direction of a Musical (Jeff Calhoun) and Best Choreography (Christopher Gattelli). It won awards for Best Score and Best Choreography.

The Broadway company of Newsies features Jordan as Jack Kelly, John Dossett as Joseph Pulitzer, Kara Lindsay as Katherine Plumber, Capathia Jenkins as Medda Larkin, Ben Fankhauser as Davey, Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Crutchie, and Lewis Grosso and Matthew Schechter alternating in the role of Les.
