A refuah shlemah (full recovery) to Broadway composer Jerry Herman, who had successful triple bypass heart surgery in mid-September and was released from Los Angeles' Good Samaratin Hospital, Sept. 29.
Herman's agent, Biff Liff (of the William Morris Agency), told Playbill On Line (Oct. 27) Herman was doing "A-OK...he's right on track."
Herman composed Hello, Dolly!, La Cage aux Folles, Mame and many other Broadway shows and movies, including the TV special Mrs. Santa Claus, which coincidentally was released on video Oct. 21.
A spokesperson from the hospital was prohibited from giving further information on the patient, though the NY Post reported (Oct. 22) that actress Carol Channing (of Herman's Hello, Dolly!), held his hand at his bedside and sang, "It's so nice to have you back where you belong."
Get well cards may be sent to Herman via Liff at the agency: 1325 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10019. --By David Lefkowitz
