When last we checked on Jerry Herman in early fall, he was recuperating from heart surgery. But the composer of Hello, Dolly! and La Cage aux Folles has bounced back and is working on bringing his revue, And Then I Wrote, to Broadway.

CultureFinder reports that he's readying the career-retrospective show for this summer, but a spokesperson at Biff Liff's office (at the William Morris Agency, which represents Herman) told Playbill On-Line (March 2) summer may be a bit premature, as is speculation that Lee Roy Reams and Florence Lacey, who have starred in the show's regional incarnations, would repeat their performances in New York.

The Morris office does confirm that Herman wants to take the show to Broadway and is working on making that happen. Herman's other credits include The Grand Tour, Milk and Honey, Mame, Mack & Mabel and the TV special Mrs. Santa Claus, which was released on video Oct. 21, 1997.

A previous Jerry Herman revue, Jerry's Girls, played on Broadway in 1985-86.

Herman's last new Broadway show was La Cage in 1983. He published his memoirs in late fall 1996. -- By David Lefkowitz and Robert Viagas
