The concerts, which will benefit The Terrence Higgins Trust, the HIV/AIDS charity, will take place at the Leicester Square Theatre March 2 at 8 PM and 11:55 PM. Bedella, an American actor who has long been resident in the U.K., has appeared on Broadway in Smokey Joe's Café, and also reprised his performance as the Devil in the Carnegie Hall concert version of Jerry Springer in January 2008. He will also return to the role to perform it in the show's Australian premiere, which is being held in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House April 21-26. Other recent roles include a U.K. tour and West End run of The Rocky Horror Show (in which he played Frank-N-Furter) and Hedwig and the Angry Inch, as well as a featured role in the Royal Albert Hall's production of Chess in concert last May. On TV he is best known for his role as Dr. Carlos Fashola in the BBC-TV drama "Holby City."
Bedella's album, which is being released by Curtain Records, will be launched on the night of the concert. On it he re-interprets some of the greatest hits from Sammy Davis, Jr. and Liza Minnelli to George Michael and Donna Summer.
The concert, which will be hosted by British TV personality Christopher Biggins (winner of the 2007 edition of "I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here"), will feature a 12-piece orchestra as well as a company of dancers. The concert is produced, choreographed and directed by Ian Mills.
