Jess Cagle certainly isn't doing anything to disprove the old crutch that all critics really want to be the artists they review. Cagle, who is a senior editor and theatre critic at Entertainment Weekly, is the writer and star of Them, a new one-man show playing at the Off-Off-Broadway venue HERE Nov. 3-18.
In the piece -- the full title of which is Them: An Objective Look at Humanity...Or, What God Really Wants to Do it Direct -- Cagle performs monologues by a half-dozen different characters, included the above mentioned supreme being, who delights in doing impressions of Katharine Hepburn and Lauren Bacall.
Them is directed by Joel Schumacher, whose career as a film director has included, among others, "Batman Forever," "St. Elmo's Fire," and "Falling Down."
