Jesse Tyler Ferguson pre-gamed the June 1 start of his new Off-Broadaway show with an appearance on Live With Kelly and Ryan. Ferguson began performances Friday with the world premiere of Log Cabin at Playwrights Horizons.
“It's about a lesbian couple and a gay couple who have gotten so comfortable in their newfound rights that they've sort of lost track of the struggle of their transgender friend,” said Ferguson of the Jordan Harrison piece, set in 2012 and directed by Pam MacKinnon.
The actor said he particularly loves working on something new: “I love working on a character from the ground up. I've done a lot of Shakespeare and established work; I like working on a new piece where you can finesse things.”
While in the studio, co-hosts Kelly Rippa and Ryan Seacrest also asked about Ferguson’s recent visit with Chrissy Teigen and John Legend for Teigen’s surprise baby shower. “It just happened to be at Kris Jenner's house, and I arrive on time because it's a surprise and no one's there,” he said. “I'm like making small talk with Kris Jenner in the foyer of her beautiful home in Calabasas. She's like, 'Do you want a tour?' and I'm like, 'Don't ask twice.'”
