Jessie Mueller and Lillias White Stand Up, Sing Out for Human Rights in Atlanta August 28 | Playbill

Cabaret & Concert News Jessie Mueller and Lillias White Stand Up, Sing Out for Human Rights in Atlanta August 28 Melissa Manchester, Keala Settle, Sharon Gless, and other stars on tap for Concert for America.

Atlanta will host the latest edition of the Concert for America: Stand Up, Sing Out! series August 28 as it continues to raise money for human rights organizations.

Tony Award winners Jessie Mueller (Beautiful, Waitress) and Lillias White (The Life), Grammy Award winner Melissa Manchester, Tony nominee Keala Settle, Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Sharon Gless, YouTube celebrity Randy Rainbow, TV star Kim Fields (The Facts of Life, Living Single), and performer Seth Rudetsky are among the lineup of stars who will perform at the concert of songs, comedy, and commentary at Ferst Center for the Arts in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 28.

The monthly Concerts for America series, created by Rudetsky and James Wesley, benefits The Southern Poverty Law Center, National Immigration Law Center, The Sierra Club Foundation, NAACP, and National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Participating performers are subject to change.

Rudetsky told Playbill, “Many Broadway fans know how obsessed I get with amazing singers so I've made sure these concerts are chock full of the best ones I know. However, this one will be extra special. I'm going to have three of my Broadway favorites, Lillias White, Keala Settle, and Jessie Mueller doing something they've never done before: sing a trio together! Lillias and Keala said yes right away and Jessie texted back ‘It would be my honor.’ You know it's going to be full of brilliant musicianship, belting, riffs and, as I like to say, sassafras!”

He added, “Everyone is pitching in! Atlanta natives like Royce Mann and children from Broadway Dreams, Orbit Arts Academy, and Atlanta Workshop Players all volunteered to perform in the concert, Atlanta resident Margie Verdon found a fabulous restaurant to donate all the food for the post-show meet and greet and the concierge at the posh Loews Hotel is giving each visiting performer amazing perks! I’m hoping to see Jessie Mueller in the jacuzzi to get scoop on the upcoming Carousel revival!”

Also scheduled to perform: Nora Schell, Ryann Redmond, Kim Fields, Christopher L. Morgan, Hal Sparks, and Royce Mann. The previously announced Faith Prince and Biana Marroquin have withdrawn.

For those unable to attend the Atlanta Concert for America in person, it will be broadcast via Facebook Live on the Concert for America Facebook page and at ConcertsforAmerica.com, on August 28.

Rudetsky, a Playbill columnist and Sirius/XM radio personality, will host the 7:30 PM concert, which features songs, comedy, and commentary. Additional performers are expected to come on board in the coming weeks. The series, which originated at Town Hall in Manhattan, has performed editions in Chicago, Seattle, and elsewhere.

The next in the Concert for America series is scheduled for October 16 in Hartford, Connecticut.
