Jevon McFerrin, the current alternate for the title role in Broadway’s Hamilton, will take center stage at the Richard Rodgers Theatre effective immediately. He assumes the role from Javier Muñoz, who is on temporary medical leave to recover from a physical injury.
In addition to alternating in the role of Alexander Hamilton, McFerrin also served as the standby for three dual-roles in the show: Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, John Laurens and Philip Hamilton, and Hercules Mulligan and James Madison. Prior to Hamilton, he appeared in Motown on Broadway and on the road.
Michael Luwoye, the former alternate for the role, will launch the national tour of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tony and Pulitzer-winning musical. Performances begin on March 10 in San Francisco.
The Broadway production of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony and Pulitzer-winning musical also currently stars Brandon Victor Dixon as Aaron Burr, Lexi Lawson as Eliza Hamilton, Mandy Gonzalez as Angelica Schuyler, Seth Stewart as Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, Bryan Terrell Clark as George Washington, Taran Killam as King George, Alysha Deslorieux as Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds, Jordan Fisher as John Laurens and Philip Hamilton, and J Quinton Johnson as Hercules Mulligan and James Madison.
